ABOUT OTRM
At On The Run Music (OTRM) we specialise in contemporary music. We teach Drums, Guitar, Bass Guitar, Piano, Keyboard and Voice with a unique approach encouraging group learning and maintaining student focus and commitment.
Our carefully selected, industry-active music teachers keep students motivated and inspired by allowing them to select the artist, band and music that interests them. OTRM works on building the student’s skills, confidence and creativity, which is enhanced by the performance opportunities we offer.
Our program encourages group learning, which is available through our after hours rock band program or one of our holiday group workshops.
We are always striving for new ideas, which may result in extra programs and further development opportunities. This way everything remains fresh and energized.
OTRM teach ALL ages and we have programs to suit all students. We offer lessons during and after school hours at school or at the students home.
We currently run programs at Quintilian and Freshwater Bay Primary Schools.
Meet the Teachers
Michael Basham (Director) - Guitar, Bass Guitar and Band
Michael has been teaching and performing contemporary, classical, jazz and blues for over 15 years. His passion for his music and the development of his students continues to grow. Michael has been performing all over Australia since his teens. He continues to develop new techniques on his music journey which he shares with his students. Michael is a highly energetic, friendly and caring teacher who takes pride in watching his students become competent players and performers. Michael has studied for many years and continues to delve into new teaching styles to better his method. He believes each student relates to music differently and that there is no such thing as a single technique or method for all.
Laura Hernandez - Voice / Piano

Laura is a contemporary pianist and vocal coach who graduated from ICZ College with over 7 years of experience teaching private piano/keyboard and vocal lessons to all ages and levels. Laura teaches many styles such as Jazz, Bossa Nova, Latin, Pop, Rock and more. Her lessons involve a fun and nurturing approach which is customised to meet each individual students needs. Laura does this by using multiple teaching methods and approaches that she believes assists in maintaining her student’s inspiration as well as building their confidence.
Cam Barrett- Drums
Cameron has had over 18 years of private drum lessons learning from one of Perths finest, Ric Eastman (Head Drum Tutor at WAAPA). He teaches all formal drum notation, including reading and writing, and is capable of teaching beginners to advanced students.
Cam has been involved with several studio projects and in all forms of the recording process from writing, recording to mixing.
His band (Ragdoll) won EP of the year for their track ‘Here Today’ and best local release with rock magazine - The Rockpit.
Cam has spent many years touring regional Australia and internationally with his current band Ragdoll.
Joel Dalton- Drums/ Piano
Joel Dalton is an up-and-coming drummer out of the Perth Music scene, he strives to showcase his musicality through creative interaction & creating a foundation for the music to express itself. Joel is inspired by the works of drummers like Richard Spaven & Steve Gadd.
Daniel Zamudio - Piano/ Guitar

Daniel Zamudio is a composer, producer and multi-instrumentalist (Guitar, Piano and Latin Percussion) with a Bachelor’s degree in Music. He started private tuition in piano when he was 4 years old, then switched to electric guitar at 9 and took music in High-School as an elective. Daniel went to university at Berklee College of Music in Boston Massachusetts where he completed his Bachelors majoring in music technology and composition with guitar as his principal instrument.
Now he works giving the same private tuition he was given all his life aswell as performing as a freelance musician. Daniel also likes to promote his own music online and by touring the local scene.
